Computer users embrace wee-fi
- More internet fans spending their pennies on wireless connections, says Plusnet -
The toilet has become one of the most unusual places to surf the internet and send emails, according to a new poll.
10 per cent of web browsers have logged on to their laptops during visits to the toilet, either at home or at work, says the survey by leading ISP, Plusnet.
35 per cent have even admitted going online while in bed as an alternative to the traditional bedtime read.
The favourite place to log on is the living room or lounge with 40 per cent, with the humble study coming in at just 20 per cent. The survey also found that 85 per cent now had Wi-Fi access.
Neil Armstrong, Plusnet products director, said: With the growing popularity of wireless technology, people can access their computers from almost anywhere in their homes at any time.
Some people are now such fans of emailing and the internet they want to stay in touch with the worldwide web whenever and wherever they are.
The explosion of Wi-Fi broadband allows them to do that although we wouldnt recommend people taking their laptops into the bath or shower!
The survey findings came as the Sheffield-based broadband and home phone provider unveiled a new offer giving customers a free wireless router.
Subscribers can qualify for the offer if they sign up to the £9.99-a-month Plusnet Broadband Your Way Option 1 package for the next 12 months by November 1st.
Armstrong said: Giving our broadband customers greater flexibility to surf the internet in the home is one of our major priorities.
This deal is one of a number Plusnet has made to retain its position as an award-winning, value-for-money ISP.
