  1. What is a MAC key and why do I need one?

    MAC keys are unique codes which allow you to switch broadband provider without any loss of service. If you receive your broadband service through a phone line then you'll need a MAC key to switch to Plusnet.

  2. How do I get a MAC key and how long does it take?

    Simply by calling your existing broadband provider and asking for one.

    By law your existing provider must give you a MAC key within five working days.

You'll need a Plusnet or BT landline to get our broadband. Our landline service (called Home Phone) costs £11.25 a month including evening and weekend calls. More about Plusnet Home Phone

There's a £25 broadband activation charge but we'll waive it if you choose a 12 month contract and add Home Phone to your order.

We'll also give you a free wireless router if you choose a 12 month contract. If you don't want to be in a contract you can pay for your router up front meaning you can leave at anytime.

* Plusnet Value: If you live in a low cost area it costs £6.49 a month. If you live outside one of these areas it costs £6.49 a month for the first three months, then £12.99 a month.

** Plusnet Extra: If you live in a low cost area it costs £11.49 a month. If you live outside one of these areas it costs £11.49 a month for the first three months, then £17.99 a month.

1 - Broadband speed is described as up to 20Mb because your actual download speeds will vary depending on where you live. We'll give you a speed estimate when you sign up.

2 - "Evening & weekend calls" applies to numbers beginning with 01, 02, 03, 0845 and 0870. Hang up and re-dial after 60 minutes and you won't be charged for these included calls (for international numbers re-dial after 30 minutes). Calls to indirect access numbers and dial up internet access are excluded. See the Home Phone page for more details about call charges.
